Miami has developed a contemporary condominium vernacular that combines brise soleil style balcony shading with floor-to-ceiling windows in order to best enjoy the panoramic water views of the area. We propose to elaborate on these indigenous elements and continue the evolution of the local condominium architecture.
The two towers of the Grove at Grand Bay respond to the surroundings and to each other, to give optimum views at every level. As the two towers take off from the ground and clear the surrounding buildings, they readjust to their orientation to capture the full breadth of panoramic views from Sailboat Bay and the marina to the Miami skyline. The interactive movement of the two towers creates a new dancing silhouette on the Grove’s skyline.
Although the center has become practically clear-cut, Coconut Grove’s identity is also closely tied to its untamed jungle-like vegetation. We propose to "re-grove" the heart of Coconut Grove, and create a landscape in tune with the surroundings. To do so, a lush jungle of vegetation blankets the parking and amenity spaces. The manmade topography is created by steps of indigenous oolite stone bluffs forming a striated landscape of the local rock.
Coconut Grove is internationally known as the richness city. Many writers, scientists, artists and intellectuals were the first ones to live in this amazing city.
The city was named by Horace P. Porter when he founded the first post office in 1873. Some years later, in 1880, the Peacock Inn Hotel was founded and attracted a vast number of bohemians and writers who quickly made Coconut Grove their homes forever.

The Grove at Grand Bay will enhance the village experience, graciously shading the ample public and pedestrian experiences with park-like amenities. The immense adjacent park system, soon to be greatly improved, will appear integrated. Passing motorists on Bayshore Drive, a world class boulevard, will be treated to uplifting art, architecture and gardens. The gardens and architecture will fuse seamlessly at the amenity levels, maximizing indoor-outdoor living experiences that are unique to the South Florida climate.
Views down into the gardens, towards the surrounding canopied neighborhoods, and beyond Sailboat Bay will offer peaceful, verdant backdrops to elegant, cutting-edge residential interiors and vast balconies. At night, the scintillating city lights and starlit sky will provide breathtaking visual stimuli, something oceanfront residential towers sadly lack. Views upward from the garden levels will be exhilarating. The sky will be enframed by the poetic grace of the dynamic architecture, while passing clouds enliven the space and provide a sense of variety. Off-site views will engage the mature surrounding canopy trees, inviting them into the garden experience, creating a tree house effect while maximizing the integration with the expansive open spaces surrounding the Grove at Grand Bay
